Weight Watchers and the 30 Day Shred

Well, I'm back on the weight loss bandwagon again. Sigh. I'm excited and bummed all at the same time. I'm excited to be focusing on my weight loss, eating healthier, working out, and working towards weight loss goals. I'm bummed because I am a foodie and I love to eat, bake, watch cooking shows, snack, binge, and eat lots of comfort foods. And desserts. And junk food. And, well, you get the picture. I don't naturally gravitate towards drinking water and eating fruit and vegetables. My natural inclination is towards processed junk foods.
I have done Weight Watchers twice before, and lost about 15 or more pounds each time in only a couple months. So I know the program works, and it works for me. But I could never stick with it for the long term because I got sick of giving up foods, being hungry, and being self-controlled day in and day out. It sounds horrible, but it's true. But any time I just try to eat healthier or cut out certain foods, I never seem to lose weight. I need a program that will hold my hand and walk me through each detail of losing weight. Weight Watchers involves tracking everything you put into your mouth, every bit of activity you do, and also tracking your vitamins, milk products, water intake, and healthy oils. I end up being so much healthier when I do WW because I love checking off those little boxes on my page!! So it works for me.
I also am starting the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels. It's only 20 minutes a day, which totally works for me, and has 3 workouts. You gradually build up to the next workout whenever you feel ready. I am hoping to make it through the whole 30 days straight this time! I am on Day 2 so wish me luck!!
So we will see how this round of weight loss goes. Like I said I am both excited and bummed. But I am realizing that it is all in my mindset. If I focus on the food I am missing out on, the things I wish I could make, the potlucks and restaurants, then I will quickly get discouraged. But if I can keep my eye on the prize, the actual weight loss, and celebrate the little victories of self-discipline, losing pounds, and activity goals, I will be well on my way to losing weight.
It's not just the baby weight. I have a lot more to lose that came on after I had Maddy. And I have been complaining about how I feel about myself and my looks since then. I really want to stick with this and do something about it instead of complain about it for the rest of my life.
If any of you has had success in losing weight or has any words of wisdom or encouragement to share, please do so!

  1. You can do it! I lost a ton of weight after having Hannah. I lost around 45 pounds (from what I weighed right after having her to what my goal was). It took 10 months, but I did it. I was on WW and running. Then I did it again with Joseph, but this time it took my about 5 months to lose 35 pounds. But, I was working out more, so that probably helped.

Just keep going. Even if it's been a bad day (from binge eating or not working out), just get back up the next day and keep going. You can do it!

  2. I would love to encourage you but...I'm in the boat with you!And I did not just recently have a baby, so whats my excuse?? lol But I have heard really good things about the 30 day shred and I have seen fantastic results from weight wathchers (although I have never tried it myself). Does it cost?

  3. Sarah,
Thank you so much for your encouragement!! That is the key - getting back up even when you feel like a failure. I'm encouraged by your success with WW and running/working out! Hopefully this time it will work for me!

  4. Nicole,
You look amazing, BTW!! I am doing WW and working out and would be ecstatic to look as good as you look!! WW does cost. It costs a certain amount to just do it online, and more if you attend weekly meetings. But it's affordable!! I used to do the meetings, but the last 2 times I have done it, I just did it online. I love the tools they have, recipes, support, and ways to keep you motivated!!
