Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (which I don't add)
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 15 by 10 inch jelly-roll pan (and it took me a long time to figure out that this was a cookie sheet. I figured I just didn't have this kind of pan, lol!)
2. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large mixer bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips, and nuts, if using. Spread into prepared pan.
3. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool in the pan or on a wire rack, and cut into bars.

My mom & I used to make these all the time when I was a kid (it takes out all the extra time of making individual cookies on several sheets), but I haven't made them in AGES! You've inspired me...I will be enjoying these sweet treats tonight!
